FretBoard - Scales & Chords App Reviews

A must

Great app for anyone who plays a string instrument

Pretty Useless

Totally confusing for beginners as its just a bunch of dots on a fretboard. Chords sound nothing like actual guitar chords. Dont bother with this useless app.

Not bad

Good for highlighting where various notes are on the fretboard to find roots, 5ths, ect. Also nice for highlighting the scale you to want to play, but free has very few scales. Easy to get around though if you just enter in the notes of the scale. Visually unatractive however and finicky trying to cycle through the dot icons to make them blank or a certain shape.

Fretboard LE

Wow! You can choose from guitars and you can try to play the chords on your guitar!

Great trial...

As string instruments go, I play the guitar but primarily the ukulele. This LE version is just a small sample of what the full (paid) version is. I tried this version out and I was sold on the full version. This app (especially the full version) is a must have if you want to learn the fretboard and learn how to ad lib. Its cheaper than buying a fretboard map book and it fits in your pocket. Try the app out and if you think this app is what you need, buy the full version...

Awesome app!

What really sets this app apart from other fretboard and scale apps out there is the fact that it handles extended range instruments. Not only does it cover a broad range of scales, root notes, and chords for 6 string instruments, but it handles 7 string guitars, Chapman stick, extended range basses, banjos, mandolin, and the bouzouki. My band mates and I no longer have to write out our intervals just to figure out what mode/scale were dealing with just because we play extended range instruments. If youve ever blown a pretty penny on a book of chords and scales like i have, this app will make you regret it, as you have everything at your fingertips in your pocket. Ive been playing guitar for 10 years, and teaching for about 3, and i wish i had this when i first started learning. Solid app!

there should be an option to display more than one scale!

there should be an option to display more than one scale! so that people who are soloing using more than one scale wont have to switch...

Good but a little confusing

You have to give them a ton of credit for putting all those different stringed instruments in there. The chord reading is a bit confusing. I didnt really get it at first but I kind of got the hang of it.

Cant set own tunings

I would not recommend this app. So many instruments, but no option for creating your own tunings.

It wouldnt load

I tried to down load the free version it is still "waiting" a week later. Cant get it to delete from the phone or in iTunes. No stars in my opinion

Very helpful

Even the LE has a lot to offer, I use it almost every day.

Bosco

This is a GREAT ap! One of the best!

Almost perfect

All it needs is to be able to show more than 15 frets or to scroll throughout the neck

Review

If I can figure it out then I might be able to use it. But until then it is just a waste. For a newbe it is to deep and will never be used.

Great

I wish it had more chords then just 4-5 major ones but as a free version of a paid app it is great.

Great music app

Lots of fun

Actually a really great app!!!

If you play guitar or bass or just about any stringed instrument this app is great. it has basic note placements, chord, and scale placements set to any note you need. In the settings you can switch tunings and there are tons of presets. I would defiantly say download this if you want to practice your guitar skills!

Good visual app

I personally enjoy this free app and dont get what all the 1 star ratings are about

Confusing

Incredibly confusing, they try to sell you the full version before the thing opens. The buttons at the bottom didnt work. I feel like I am on a hidden camera show.

Bugs???

Maybe this works if you only want the guitar. Like other users have mentioned, l cant access the settings or info buttons.
